What exhibitions are showing right now?

How long does it take to go through the Gallery?

Depending on the types and number of exhibitions showing, expect to spend between 1.5-2.5 hours going through the Gallery. (You may also want to plan time for visiting shop AGA, Art Rental and Sales, Terrace Cafe and Zinc Restaurant.)

Can I go into Shop AGA, Art Rental and Sales or Zinc restaurant without paying Gallery admission?

Yes. Admission is required for exhibition access only.

Are there tours through the Gallery?

Regular exhibition tours with our knowledgeable Interpretive Staff are offered free with admission and take place on Saturdays & Sundays. Click here for a schedule of upcoming tours.

Can I rent a wheelchair?

The Gallery has two wheelchairs available free of charge. They are, however, available on a first come first served basis, so visitors may want to call in advance to ensure that there will be one free upon arrival.

Where can I leave personal items that I bring to the Gallery?

Personal items can be stored in our coat room which has coin operated lockers ($1). Please be advised, larger items will not fit in the lockers. We suggest you leave larger items at home; otherwise you will have to keep them with you as you tour the Gallery. The Guest Services desk is not permitted to assume responsibility for Members’ and Guests’ personal items, and we are not accountable for lost or stolen items.

Tuesday-Sunday: 11 am-5 pm
Wednesday: 11 am-9 pm
Select Holidays: 11 am-5 pm

The AGA is closed Mondays.

The AGA is open for select statutory holidays excluding Christmas and Boxing Day. Check out the online calendar for details or call 780.422.6223.

Why is the AGA closed Mondays?

Having Mondays closed to the public allows our curatorial and facilities staff to complete maintenance work within the building and exhibitions without inconveniencing Gallery patrons.

What are Zinc’s opening hours?

3. Find the Gallery

Where is the AGA located?

The AGA is located at #2 Sir Winston Churchill Square, on the North East corner of 99 St and 102A Ave.

Is there parking?

The AGA does not have dedicated parking, but there are a number of parkades and parking meters within walking distance.

Can I get to the AGA via the Pedway?

Yes, the AGA can be accessed from the Pedway system from the Churchill LRT Station.

Is the AGA accesible via public transit?

Yes, the AGA can be accessed directly from Churchill LRT Station, as well as via a number of city bus routes.

4. Admission

What are Gallery admission prices?

AGA Members: Free
Adults: $12.50 +tax
Children 6 and under: Free
Seniors/Students: $8.50 +tax
Family (2 adults + up to 4 minors): $26.50 +tax

What age is considered senior?

Ages 65+ are considered Senior.

What constitutes a “family” admission?

A Family admission includes 2 adults and up to 4 minors.

Does the AGA offer free admission?

Free admission to the AGA is offered on Servus Community Access Nights which are on the last Thursday of each month from 6-9 pm.

Free admission is also offered annually on Family Day courtesy of Qualico.

Are there group rates? How do I qualify?

Groups of over 20 people can receive a 25% reduced admission rate. Groups must pay in one single payment and pre-book their visit by calling 780.422.6223.


5. In the Gallery

Why can’t I wear my backpack in the Gallery?

Backpacks, umbrellas, musical instruments and other large items are not permitted in exhibition spaces. Please note that there is limited storage space available at the Gallery for these items.

Can I take photos in the Gallery?

AGA guests are welcome to take photographs in exhibition spaces for personal use or for sharing via social media except where signage states it is not allowed. Professional photography and the use of tripods and flashes are not permitted in exhibition spaces.

Formal group photography sessions are only permitted in public spaces of the Gallery and only to those with either a booked event occurring at the AGA or a photo session agreement.

Can I bring a stroller in the gallery?

Yes, strollers are permitted in exhibition spaces.

Food & Drink in the Gallery

Food and drink are not allowed in exhibition spaces.

Proximity to Artwork

Artworks are fragile, so please do not touch them.  Keep a minimum distance of half an arm’s length between yourself and works of art at all times.

Animals & Plants

With the exception of service dogs, animals are not permitted in the Gallery.  Due to the risk of insect infestation, plants are also not permitted.

Accessibility

The Gallery is wheelchair accessible, including elevator access to the LRT (subway) level and L1 Theatre. A limited number of complimentary wheelchairs are available through Guest Services.

Aides accompanying a person with disabilities are provided free admission to the Gallery.

Cell Phones

Cell phone ringers must be turned off while in exhibition spaces. Please step outside of the exhibition space when using your cell phone.

Running

Running is not permitted in the Gallery as it creates a potential risk to visitors and artwork.

Sketching

Visitors are allowed to sketch within exhibition spaces, so long as they do not obstruct the view of other guests. Sketching is restricted to dry, non-airborne and erasable media such as graphite pencils and pencil crayons.


6. Misc

Does the AGA offer art appraisals or restorations?

The AGA does not do appraisals or restorations. A good place to start looking is with the Art Dealer’s Association of Canada www.ad-ac.ca.

Is it possible to rent out Gallery spaces for private events?

The AGA has a number of rentable spaces that can cater to a variety of intimate events, including corporate functions, lectures, theatre productions and weddings. Exhibitions access is available as part of your rental through a discounted admission rate for you and your guests.

I can’t get my Membership discount to show up online. How can get it to work?

The most common reason that a membership discount does not appear is incorrect login information. In order to receive the discount, members must use the login name and password given to them by the Gallery. If you didn’t receive one or have misplaced your login information, you can have it reset by calling 780.422.6223 ext 2500.
