The Monstrous Baroque Refinery is an evening where the strange meets the beautiful, and supernatural creatures mingle with 17th century-inspired opulence. Come dressed to impress for this ball of monstrous proportions.
Create exquisite corpses; experience installations and performance art; make masquerade/monster masks and prints; collect artist cards; enjoy a Baroque period game and much more. You will not want to miss this decadent monster party inspired by an indulgent era when you could have your cake and eat it too…
This Refinery’s Creative Directors are Jennifer Rae Forsyth and Kristen Hutchinson from the fast & dirty Artist and Curatorial Collective. Themed around the exhibitions Misled by Nature: Contemporary Art and the Baroque and Beautiful Monsters: Beasts and Fantastic Creatures in Early European Prints, this Refinery will also feature the work of: Julianna Barabas, Courtney Chetwynd, Jennifer Mesch and Scott Smallwood, Sergio Serrano and Ryan Wolters. Girls Club will be the DJs on the dance floor, and a Baroque ensemble will entertain within the Galleries.
