For Immediate Release
November 7, 2011
EDMONTON, AB – The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) will host another sold out crowd at Refinery on Saturday, November 19 from 9 pm to 2 am.
Two tickets are still up for grabs through the Turn it Up North video contest. Participants are asked to upload a one minute video performance singing, playing music, dancing, acting, or telling jokes in the ‘wild’ to YouTube, and then share the link on the AGA’s Turn it Up North event page. For complete information and submission details visit youraga.ca/turnitupnorth.
The contest winner will receive two tickets to Refinery and a $600 prize package courtesy of Camper’s Village. Submissions will be accepted until November 14 at 5 pm, and the winner will be announced the next day on the AGA’s Facebook page and Twitter.
A special presale was offered to AGA Members on October 17 – two weeks before tickets were available to the general public. Tickets sold out on the first day available to the public.
Directed by local photographer, cinematographer and columnist Fish Griwkowsky and featuring some of Edmonton’s hottest artists, this Refinery will turn your night inside out with inspiration from the current AGA UP NORTH exhibition. Partygoers will encounter 3D mythical forests, northern lights and armies of monsters in a host of interactive projects and performances by local artists: Mark Feddes, Fish Griwkowsky, Josh Holinaty, Smokey Johnson and Tim Rechner with special performances by Capital City Burlesque. Music will be provided by Edmonton DJs Amy van Keeken, Curtis Ross and Sarah Patterson.
Guests are encouraged to attend dressed in Lumberjack Formal attire for a chance to win prizes. Visit youraga.ca for lumberjack formal inspiration and our Turn it Up North video contest.
