EDMONTON, AB – The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is pleased to open its Block II exhibition schedule with ALEX JANVIER, opening May 18 – August 19, 2012.  Featuring over 90 works, including many never before seen paintings and drawings, from private and public collections across Canada, this highly anticipated exhibition offers a retrospective of work from the artist, dating from the early 1960s to a selection of Janvier’s most recent work produced in 2012.

EDMONTON, AB – Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) announced that Catherine Crowston has been appointed Acting Executive Director effective January 1, 2012. Crowston is currently the Deputy Director and Chief Curator, of the AGA. Outgoing Executive Director, Gilles Hébert announced his resignation and acceptance of the senior executive position of Vice-President of Museum Practice with Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in Winnipeg in early November.

EDMONTON, AB – The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is proud to premiere ‘Our Wilderness is Wisdom…’, the most recent exhibition in the AGA’s Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition Program (TREX).The exhibition will be on view in the Ledcor Theatre Lobby from December 4, 2011 to January 2, 2012, after which it will travel throughout the province in 2012.
