5Artists 1Love is an annual Black History Month event that provides Edmonton residents the opportunity to celebrate the cultural mosaic within the city’s Black community. It explores the rich history of the African diaspora through art, design, music, dance, and poetry with the goal to promote established and emerging artists while working to further develop Black arts and culture and celebrate the accomplishments of Black Canadians.

The Art show is celebrating it’s 11th year. Each year five black visual artists are chosen to participate in the show. They are selected for their unique style and vision. They are local and represent the diversity within Edmonton’s black community. The show has hosted artists from Zimbabwe, UK, USA, the Caribbean, Canada and more. Exhibiting artists are not bound to any particular theme and that formula has made for more than a decade of visually compelling shows.

This year 5 Artists 1 Love is being hosted in 3 different venues – the Art Gallery of Alberta, University of Alberta Augustana and the Scott Gallery. We invite you to explore this soulful exhibit at participating galleries throughout the month of February.

The Ledcor Community Gallery is located on the lower level of your AGA and changes over frequently throughout the year.
