The Art Gallery of Alberta offers birthday parties for children aged 4 years and up. Party bookings are primarily available on Sundays and include a gallery exploration and fun studio project!
Cost: $140 for a group of up to 15 and $9 / person thereafter
This 2 hour program includes:
- A Gallery Educator to greet the party and lead you on an exhibition tour
- An art project to take home instructed by the Gallery Educator
- Time for birthday festivities (Gifts, snacks, cake, etc…)
- Projects are ready to take home the same day
- Full use of a studio space for 2 hours
- Access to a fridge, limited storage space
The AGA does not provide catering services, but parties are welcome to bring their own refreshments. Supervising adults are free (but expected to supervise!) Is 2 hours just not enough time? The studio space can be rented for an additional $50 / hour. Your Gallery Educator will remain with your group to assist you!

1. Play on Architecture
June 13-December 26, 2010
Ages 4+
Explore the architecture of the new AGA from the inside out with a short gallery tour before visiting the BMO World of Creativity to design, draw and build! In the studio, create a 3-D architectural sculpture from wood blocks and then paint your creation.
2. Fantasy-scapes
May 31, 2010-January 30, 2011
Ages 6+
Investigate landscape art in the exhibition Reframing a Nation to discover multiple ways artists explore the land around them. In the studio, create your own landscape based on a world of imagination! Use watercolour paint and oil pastels to bring your world to life!
Option 3: Optical Illusions
June 21-October 11, 2010
Ages 8+
Explore the impossible compositions of the mathemagician M.C. Escher in the gallery before returning to the studio to create your own optical art! Explore line, shape, colour and positive/negative space by creating your own Escher-inspired print.
Booking
To book a birthday party, please fill out the online booking form. Any cancellations or changes to your booking(s) must be made within one week of your party booking. Failure to do so will result in a $35 cancellation fee.
