Roll up your sleeves and explore art-making with these fun drop-in classes. Adult Drop-In Workshops offer a relaxed, social approach to learning and improving on one’s artistic technique.  Themes vary from week to week so you can pick and choose your classes!

Get Textural: Acrylic Painting
Visit the exhibition Reframing a Nation before learning mark-making techniques using acrylic paint to create a variety of textures. Use your new skills to create an abstract textural composition on masonite using brushes, palette knives, squeegees and sponges!

Carceri Collage: Gel Transfer
Inspired by Piranesi’s imaginary architectural spaces, create your own composition using ink, gel transfers and layered acrylic transparencies.

Play on Perspective: Drawing
Practice your perspective drawing and learn how to create 2 and 3 point perspective drawings before looking to M.C. Escher for inspiration to create cityscape drawings.

Colour Story: Soft Pastel Drawings
Look at work by the Group of Seven to explore colour, texture and mark-making before creating your own soft pastel drawing. Bring in your own land image to draw from or use an image provided.

Shape-shift: Abstract Sculpture
Visit the Sculpture Terrace to investigate the work of Alberta artist Ken Macklin. Investigate shape, space and weight before returning to the studio to create an abstract sculpture using wood.
