A Once in a Life-Time Opportunity!

From the beginning of his career, Chris Cran has worked with stencils. In 1989 he began the “Stripe Series,” an ongoing series of work in which evenly spaced strips of tape are spread over the surface of a painted canvas. Chris then paints an image over top of this under-paint and tape, and when he is finished, he removes the tape to reveal the final work. This series continues in one form or another to the present day.

At This Special, Live Auction Event, a painting will be auctioned with the tape still intact. The purchaser, while acquiring a fabulous Chris Cran painting, will also be the one to pull the tape from the painting.

This Has Never Happened Before!!

In September 2015, the Art Gallery of Alberta, in partnership with the National Gallery of Canada, will open a survey exhibition of the work of renowned Calgary artist, Chris Cran, to be curated by Catherine Crowston (AGA Executive Director / Chief Curator) and Josée Drouin-Brisebois (Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, National Gallery of Canada). Following its Alberta premiere, the exhibition will be presented at the National Gallery in Ottawa in the summer of 2016.

Come to this special event and contribute to Cran-history.
