David Bryan is the Office Managing Partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Canada Edmonton office and has over 15 years experience advising and assisting organizations of all sizes, helping them improve their performance and implement corporate strategies. – A season of strange beauty continues at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) with PAUL FREEMAN: It’s Only Natural, on from November 3, 2012 to February 18, 2013

This exhibition in the RBC New Works Gallery features two life-size casts of stags whose antlers emerge from their bodies like the branches of a tree. In these works, Paul Freeman takes two long-standing artistic traditions—metal casting and the majestic wild animal sculpture—and turns them on their heads, creating works that speak to a future of genetic variation and potential mutation.

Your AGA is challenging you to invoke your inner artist and create your own version of the Andrea Mantegna print Battle of the Sea Gods, featured in the current exhibition Beautiful Monsters: Beasts and Fantastic Creatures in Early European Prints. Your own version can be in any medium such as, photography, video, sculpture, painting, drawing, collage and more! Submissions will be judged on artistic quality, originality and relationship to the original Mantegna print. Submission deadline is November 4 at midnight.

With a career spanning six decades, Françoise Sullivan is an original member of Canada’s first group of truly modern artists, the Automatistes, and a signatory of the group’s groundbreaking manifesto, Refus Global. Sullivan is a dancer and choreographer, as well as a painter, sculptor and photographer.
